Wellington County Museum

In between two lovely communities, Elora and Fergus, lies the Wellington County Museum, a circa-1877 poorhouse and farm turned cultural centre, with historical exhibits and research library.

We have booked a tour for Wednesday, July 22nd at 10:00 am.

We will enjoy a guided one-hour tour and learn about the facility, who operated it, and the residents who lived there.

The tour will be followed by lunch at The Goofie Newfie,105 Queen St. W., Fergus.

Cost: $8.50 for the tour. Lunch cost is on your own.

Summer Road Trip!

We will start at Rambling Road Brewery Farm, 2970 Swimming Pool Road, La Salette at 10:00 am. They are a micro brewery where we can sample flights of beer (approx $12.00), buy peanut products and they also make potato chips at the facility!

We will then move on to Gunn's Hill Artisan Cheese (Home of 5 Brothers Cheeses), 445172 Gunn's Hill Road, Woodstock at 12:30 pm. Here we will tour the facility, sample and purchase cheese.

Then off to Charles Dickens Pub, 505 Dundas St., Woodstock at 2:00 pm for a late lunch/early dinner. The owners are the previous owners of The Dickens Pub in Milton and the food is just as good as it was back then!

Carpooling is suggested and always fun!

Tips and Tricks for Cooking With and Preserving Herbs

Yvonne Tremblay is passionate about culinary herbs! She will share about how to grow herbs for a good yield, then demonstrate various methods for preserving herbs by drying or freezing, and making herb vinegars, herb oils and herb butters. As she goes along she will give lots of tips on using fresh herbs in cook. She will also make and sample Chickpea and Couscous Salad, and Basil Pesto Torte.

Yvonne is a recipe developer, cooking demonstrator and former college nutrition professor. She has worked with major food companies and food marketing boards such as eggs, mushrooms, turkey and apples and is a regular contributor to Foodland Ontario recipes. Author of 5 cookbooks.
